Why so early?

A check-up by age 7, Not Braces By Age 7

Around age 7, a child’s first adult molars and front teeth come in, which lets an orthodontist spot how the bite and jaw are developing. Catching a concern early keeps options open, but most kids simply get watched over time and treated later, if at all.
An early visit is about information, not pressure. If your child doesn’t need anything yet, we’ll happily tell you that and check back as they grow.

Signs it may be Worth a look

If you’ve noticed any of these, a quick evaluation is a good idea:
• Losing baby teeth early or late, or teeth coming in crowded or crooked
• Difficulty chewing or biting, or a bite that looks off
• Jaw that shifts, clicks, or looks uneven
• Thumb-sucking past age 5, or long-term pacifier use
• Teeth that don’t meet normally, or front teeth that stick out
• A dentist suggested an orthodontic evaluation

Two Honest Paths, Whichever Is Right For Your Child

After the evaluation, Dr. Giasi will recommend one of two things, and never more than your child actually needs.

1. Watch & wait

For most kids, the answer is simply to monitor growth with periodic check-ups and begin treatment later, often in the teen years, only if and when it’s needed. No rush, no unnecessary treatment.

2. Early treatment (when it helps)

Sometimes stepping in early makes later treatment simpler. Depending on the need, that might mean a few braces on select teeth or a palatal expander to correct a crossbite, relieve crowding, or create room for permanent teeth as the jaw grows.

Whether early treatment is appropriate is determined individually at your child’s evaluation. Not every child needs it. Expander and early-treatment fees vary by treatment plan and are quoted at your visit.
